Grammar Brammer!!!

Here in Ideal Academy the grammar lessons were made fascinating by various student-centric approaches where the students were actively engaged with their own learning. Students learned by a tool that helped them to explore different ways to represent the same information.

The teaching learning process provided the students with the opportunity to reflect critically on the concepts they learned and taught the students to collaborate, communicate, interact , work in teams and most importantly the peer learning.

New ideas and knowledge were largely constructed out of existing ideas.

SENSES Make Sense: Hands-on Learning Activity

The activity was to collect a variety of edible items such as cookies, chips, fruits etc and set them on a tray. Blindfold the child and let them go across each item. Allow them to feel each item, describe the texture, smell it, taste it and guess what the item is using his or her senses.
The educator asked the specific questions to assist them in identifying the things.Research shows that sensory play activates connections in the brain’s pathways, enhancing a child’s ability to learn and retain information. By utilizing the five senses, children develop skills to solve complex problems, boost self-confidence, strengthen core muscles and agility, expand imagination and improve language.
The activity helped the tiny tots to realize the power of all 5 senses along with their identification.

Noun: Naming Words Enrichment Activity

This part of a speech refers to words that are used to name persons, places, things, events or ideas. All nouns are naming words.

In the Ideal Academy the educators thought it’s time to eradicate boring grammar lessons and to include a variety of engaging and inspiring grammar activities.

This time children actively engaged themselves in making interesting models for depicting various kinds of nouns along with their definitions and examples. They extended their knowledge by differentiating between various kinds of nouns.
The activity encouraged the students to challenge each other and have fun while consolidating their knowledge of nouns.

GO GREEN PLANT TREES!!!

Plant trees. They give us two of the most crucial elements for our survival: oxygen and books.
As part of the Van Mahotsav endeavour, Ideal Academy has organized a Plantation Activity with the aim of “SAVE TREES ,SAVE NATURE” and to create awareness for a greener future and sensitize the students about environmental concerns. Prior to the plantation activity, students were briefed about the significance of plants and ways to plant them and take care of them.
Students of classes KG I and KG II participated in the activity. Tree planting activity brought the students close to nature and environment. All the students along with the teacher planted the saplings. Teacher explained the importance of tree plantation and the bad effects of deforestation on nature and the environment.

Predict-Observe-Explain Activity

The Candle in the Bell-jar experiment is an investigatory approach towards learning that oxygen is essential for burning.

It was used as a starter activity to grab the students’ interest as well as grasp the concept in a fun way. It also helped to link combustion with the Fire Triangle. The students noted down their observation, and explained the empirical findings.

Factoring Numbers in Riveting and Provocative Manner

Prime factorization of any number means to represent that number as a product of prime numbers. To achieve the pedantry of the knowledge gained, the big idea for conceptualization was through a factor tree. A factor tree shows the prime factors of a composite number in a “tree-like” form. Students could make different factor trees to find the same prime factorization. Along with being engrossing, it also finds its widespread real life application in sending encrypted messages.

Flipped Classroom: KITCHEN

Keeping Art Integration in the centre stage, the teacher tried a different approach to learning, of course with the guidance of the new mentor for the kids, their mother.
By performing and experiencing the process they got to know and understand that cooking is all about the things you can’t write down in a recipe. Taking care of cleanliness, keeping a double check of measurements were some observational skills that got installed in them. While there was a scope for the kids to show their creativity and present in an artistic way… It was an open-ended learning experience which taught them to always be open for modifications if required.
They deduced the fact that we may make mistakes––
‘whatever we cook or bake, no matter what it is, we do it with pride and love, as their mothers do’

Modelling : The Phases of Water

In this hands-on activity, students explored different states of water. The activity was used to introduce and reinforce the ideas of the three different states of water and the transitions between these states. The activities also helped students further to understand that temperature is what affects the transition of states.
Matter can appear quite different depending on which state it is in. When water is in its solid state, it is hard ice with a definite shape. When it becomes liquid water, it takes on the shape of its container. When it becomes gas, it fills the space evenly.
The activity enhanced their critical thinking, observation and creativity skills.

Budding Artists of KG2

To inculcate imagination and creativity in children, they are taken to a new world of opportunities through origami, and the Art and Craft activity period. The goal of these hands-on experiences was to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. This activity focuses on developing fine muscle skills, gripping, motor skills, concentration & eye and hand coordination in these tiny tots.

List and Learn the Concept of HCF: Tricky and a Clever Method

The listing method is a brilliant method in terms of underlying conceptual understanding – students can see exactly what they’re trying to achieve here. The greatest number which divides each of the two or more numbers is called HCF or Highest Common Factor.
During the activity the students need to list all the factors of the two numbers and find the biggest number that’s in both lists – that’s your HCF. Simple!
The aim of the activity was to encourage learners to reflect on their subject knowledge and the effectiveness of their explanations.
