World Water Day became a UN observance day in 1993. It seeks to focus attention on the global water crisis. On 22 March every year, people and organizations mark World Water Day by taking action to tackle the water crisis. World Water Day 2021 will focus on the theme, ‘Valuing Water’. This focus will extend beyond issues of pricing to include the environmental, social, and cultural value people place on water. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. All plants and animals need water to survive. If there was no water there would be no life on earth. Therefore, it is necessary to understand that natural resources are important for sustaining life on earth.

World Poetry Day seeks to promote linguistic diversity and expression through poetry. This day encourages writing poetry and aims to support teachers and publishers. Poetry is an artistic expression that emphasizes feelings and ideas by using different styles and rhythms. It can be spoken or written. The United Nations believes that poetry is an affirmation of our common humanity and proves that all humans everywhere share the same questions and feelings. World Poetry Day was established in 1999 by UNESCO as part of an effort to support creative expression and endangered languages. It is observed annually on March 21st.

It is a day to educate one another about the threats facing our rivers, and learn about better water and energy solutions. Above all, it is a day to unite by acting together, we demonstrate that these issues are not merely local, but global in scope.

Celebrated on March 8 every year, International Women’s Day is a day dedicated to honour the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe, and is typically a day for women from all different backgrounds and cultures to band together to fight for gender parity and women’s rights. UN Women announces the theme for International Women’s Day as, “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”

The theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed 3 March – the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in 1973 – as UN World Wildlife Day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. World Wildlife Day will be celebrated in 2021 under the theme “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”. The day also reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime, which has wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts.

National Science day is celebrated every year on 28th February to mark the discovery of RAMAN EFFECT by renowned Indian Physicist Sir C.V.Raman. This day was observed on the recommendation of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) to the Government of India. It was first observed in the year 1987. The event is celebrated across several educational institutions viz Schools, colleges, universities, etc with great zeal. It is also observed in various medical, science and research institutions across India.

Taj Mahotsav, organised by Uttar Pradesh Tourism annually in the historic city of Agra, is a cultural extravaganza that witnesses the fusion of art, craft, cuisine, dance and music. Taj Mahotsav gives a true Picture of India at its best with a glimpse of its rich cultural heritage and extraordinary legacies. Commencing from 18th February, 10-day long Mahotsav kicks off with a lavish procession that makes one reminiscent of the grandeur and magnificence of the Mughal era. Splendidly decorated camels and elephants, immensely talented folk artists, dexterous master craftsmen and beautifully adorned drum players participating in the grand procession recreate the glorious past of the Mughals.

Started in the year 1992, Taj Mahotsav 2021 will be the 30th edition of the festival and is based on the theme “Dharohar”. As the theme suggests, the mahotsav aims to highlight the significance of the splendid historical monuments with which India is so fortunately bestowed.

India celebrates Sarojini Naidu’s birthday as National Women’s Day of India every year on February 13. Sarojini Naidu was a poet, politician and India’s first women governor and also famous as ‘Bharat Kokila’. Sarojini Naidu was born on February 13, 1879. She actively participated in the Indian National Movement for the independence of the country. She was famous for her nickname ‘Nightingale of India’ because of her poems. She was one of the forefront leaders who led the Civil Disobedience Movement and the Quit India Movement.
