The 10th National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on 25th Jan . It was celebrated at over ten lakh locations across the country including Polling Stations, District and State headquarters.
It sets the tone for year-long activities focusing on voter education and renewal of citizens’ faith in the electoral process. The Day is celebrated since 2011 to mark the Foundation day of Election Commission of India, which was established on 25th January 1950.
Voting rights enables people with the right to question the government about issues and clarifications. It also provides a sense of freedom to express opinion in major decision making for the benefit of the country in a democratic nation. This day signifies the importance of exercising the right to elect one’s representative.
