List and Learn the Concept of HCF: Tricky and a Clever Method

The listing method is a brilliant method in terms of underlying conceptual understanding – students can see exactly what they’re trying to achieve here. The greatest number which divides each of the two or more numbers is called HCF or Highest Common Factor.
During the activity the students need to list all the factors of the two numbers and find the biggest number that’s in both lists – that’s your HCF. Simple!
The aim of the activity was to encourage learners to reflect on their subject knowledge and the effectiveness of their explanations.

Pragmatic Approach to master Social Sciences

To Broaden the scope of learning the subject, the execution was done in a different way. Students took the hands-on learning experience by hand drawing a map of India, locating all the states and Union Territories along with the mention of formation date of state, capital, languages, dress code, song play etc. Conducting a Role play activity where children act as a Member of the constitution assembly introducing the name ,birth year and place, work and other related ministries etc. The Human Development Index(HDI) was explained by students via paper slides. The Skills emphasized were ability to explain context, observation with curiosity, focusing on changing the mindset, enhancing the knowledge and improving the skills.

Scrutinizing Indian and International System of Numerals

“Arithmetic is where numbers fly like pigeons in and out of your head.”

While teaching the differences between the Indian number system and International number system, the teacher was using flash cards to make the concept easy and fun to understand as there is the difference of placement of the separators or comas. In the international numbering system, millions are written after thousands while in Indian system, lakhs are written after thousands. Indian system is followed in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is still called as Indian number system owing to its Union (Indian sub-continent) during the British rule. Million and Billion are international units of the number system. This system is commonly used in western countries. Critical Analysis of the concept was given smartly.

Representing Electric Circuits

Enthusiastic batch of class X responded to the learning of the concept in a distinctive way by making their own electric circuits with the resources available at home. First they were guided by their instructor that A physical circuit can be created with real components. And a circuit diagram can be drawn using symbols to represent the different components in the physical circuit.

Using physical components they set up a closed circuit which has one battery, conducting wires and a light bulb and avidly they gave an insight to fellow learners in the class.

Globe – The Model of Earth

Globe The Model of Earth 3

Class 5 students in their Social Science class learned about the Parallels of Latitudes. These are used to measure the distance from the Equator. They show how far north or south of the Equator is from a particular place and
Latitude of Equator is 0°.
The educator smartly explained the concept with the globe and sharing screen simultaneously. The students responded positively. It availed the benefit to the learners as they were able to make associations between pieces of information, soak up chunks of course content quickly, and it also functioned as a memory aid to them.
