Indian Army day or Army Day is celebrated every year in on the 15th of January. It is celebrated as a recognition of the first Commander in Chief of the Indian Army, Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa who was the first Indian Commander in Chief after the last British Commander in Chief, General Sir Francis Butcher. The day is celebrated at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate and all the Army Offices and the Headquarters. Parades and other military shows are put on display to salute all the soldiers who have given up their lives for the protection of their country and their citizens.
